1. General Information
The maximum seating capacities of the Main Auditorium, Rangaswar Hall, Runanubandha Hall, Cultural Hall, Board Room, and Virangula are 564, 225, 180, 150, 35, and 250, respectively, including reserved seats for Chavan Centre authorities.
• Reserved Seats: Main Auditorium (10), Rangaswar Hall (6), Cultural Hall (4), Runanubandha Hall (4).
Permitted Uses of the Premises:
• (a) Cultural programs such as dance, drama, music concerts, and book launches.
• (b) Lectures, conferences, conventions, and meetings.
• (c) Corporate meetings or programs.
Usage is subject to the rules established by the Pratishthan.
2. Booking Confirmation & Cancellation Policy
• The booking will only be confirmed once full payment is received.
• Yashwantrao Chavan Centre reserves the right to change the booked date in case of any government or Chavan Centre programs, with prior notice. In such cases, an alternate date or time will be offered, or the amount paid will be refunded.
• If the organizer unilaterally cancels the booking, only the deposit amount will be refunded.
• If the event is rescheduled, the organizer must inform the Centre at least 30 days before the originally booked date. The new date must fall within 30 days of the original scheduled date.
• If any additional amounts are due after the event, the applicable amount will be deducted from the security deposit.
3. Event Timing, Usage & Overtime Charges
• The auditorium is available in the following time slots:
Morning Slot: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Afternoon Slot: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Evening Slot: 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM
• Overtime Charges:
Main Auditorium: , ₹10,000 per hour for the first two slots., ₹20,000 per hour for the third slot.
₹6,000 for staff overtime charges.
Rangaswar Hall, Runanubandha Hall, Cultural Hall:
₹6,000 per hour for the first two slots. ₹9,000 per hour for the third slot.
₹6,000 for staff overtime charges.
• Event Time Restrictions:
Events must end by 1:00 AM.
Use outside standard hours (before 10:00 AM or after 11:00 PM) requires prior written approval and may incur additional charges.
4. Permissions, Legal Requirements & NOC
• Organizers should designate a representative to liaise with the Colaba Police Station and Colaba Traffic Police for security arrangements at the gate and inside the auditorium.
• Legal Obligations:
The applicant is solely responsible for the payment of all taxes, including Municipal Theatre Tax or any State and Central Government taxes levied on the performance.
Bombay Municipal Corporation provisions under Section 191 (E), Act (1) to (3), specify that taxes are levied on each performance or theatre play. The owner or in-charge must pay the tax in advance before allowing any person entry.
A theatre tax receipt must be submitted to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Theatre Division, J.B. Shah Market Building, 4th Floor, Mumbai.
• Artists:
All persons/artists involved in the performance must be Indian citizens.
If a foreign artist is part of the performing troupe, an NOC from the Under Secretary, Government of Maharashtra, Home Department, is mandatory. The NOC must be obtained from the New Administrative Building, 9th Floor, Mumbai.
In such cases, the foreign artists must travel to India on a Business Visa.
5. IPRS License & Censorship
• IPRS License: If applicable, the organizer must obtain an IPRS license from The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd., 208 Golden Chambers, 2nd Floor, New Andheri Link Road, Andheri (W), Mumbai, 400053.
• A Censor Certificate must be submitted from the Stage Performance Scrutiny Board, Government of Maharashtra, located at: 2nd Floor, Thackersey House, Shoorji Vallabhadas Road, Ballard Estate, Mumbai – 400001.
6. Pre-Recorded Music
• If pre-recorded music is used, a copy of the PPL license (Phonographic Performance Ltd.) must be submitted.
7. DG Set License
• If a generator is used, a copy of the license from the PWD (Office of the Electrical Inspector, I.E & L. Department) must be submitted.
8. Catering & Food Policies
• Catering: The Yashwantrao Chavan Centre has a cafeteria operated by a catering contractor. All parties requiring catering services must use this designated caterer.
• No outside food or drinks are allowed on the premises.
• The menu, rates, and services will be finalized between the organizer and the catering contractor.

9. Event Setup & Equipment Policies
• No party is allowed to modify or handle any auditorium property without prior consent from the in-charge.
• Nailing or altering the stage, podium, dais, or any walls (inner or outer) is strictly prohibited.
• Posters, banners, and publicity materials may only be displayed in designated areas.
• Loudspeakers are not permitted on the premises without prior permission.
• DJ systems are strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises of Yashwantrao Chavan Centre.
10. Damage, Loss & Responsibility
• Any damage to the auditorium’s fixtures, fittings, or property must be compensated by the organizer. Compensation can be made via NEFT/Cheque or by deducting the cost from the security deposit, as decided by the management.
• The Chavan Centre is not responsible for any loss or damage to the organizer’s property used or stored on the premises.
11. Security & Safety Measures
• Entry to the auditorium is subject to security checks at the gate.
• Nothing may be removed from the premises without a gate pass issued by the competent authority.
• The organizer must designate a representative to oversee guest identification and ensure that only invited persons are allowed entry.
• Organizers must avoid noise disruptions and adhere strictly to the booked time slot.
12. Restrictions & Prohibited Activities
• No food or drinks are allowed inside the auditorium or halls. Tea, coffee, and snacks may only be served in designated areas.
• Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited and cannot be served or consumed on the premises.
• Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the premises.
• Any violation of these rules may result in event cancellation and withdrawal of all facilities.
13. Technical Support & Equipment Usage
• Organizers are required to bring their own video cameras for recording purposes. A charge of ₹750 per camera, per time slot, will be applied for access to the venue’s video recording facilities.

Yashwantrao Chavan Centre provides a podium, 2 tables, 10 chairs, and 3 wired microphones free of charge.
Additional items (e.g., collar/cordless microphones, screen, Projector) will incur extra charges, along with 9% CGST & 9% SGST.
• Lighting Charges: PAR Light: ₹150 each, Spot Light: ₹150 each, Power Pack: ₹300 each
• If in-house technical equipment (e.g., lighting or sound systems) is used, a Chavan Centre technician must be present to operate or supervise the equipment. Additional charges may apply.
14. Cleanliness & Waste Management
• Organizers are responsible for ensuring that the venue is left clean and tidy after the event.
• Any additional cleaning costs due to excessive littering, leftover décor, or material removal will be deducted from the security deposit.
15. Liability
• Yashwantrao Chavan Centre is not liable for any loss or disruption if the hirer is unable to use the auditorium due to events beyond its control, such as power failure, riot, strike, earthquake, war, or other force majeure circumstances.
16. Parking & Venue Accessibility
• Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
17. Emergency Procedures & Fire Safety
• Compliance with Fire Safety Regulations: All decorations and materials brought into the premises must comply with fire safety regulations. The use of open flames, firecrackers, or any hazardous materials is strictly prohibited.
